English bridge of Potamos
The English engineer John McPhail, while serving in Kythira as a Surveyor, designed and supervised the construction of this bridge as well, which was built in 1823. The bridge is made of stone and has decorative designs made of alabaster while it is supported by seven arches. Its dimensions are 60 m long, 6.80 m wide and 7 m high.
Like the bridge of Katouni, the project was part of the general planning of public works of the English in Kythira, which included the construction of schools, aqueducts, lighthouses, roads, bridges, ports, etc.
