ViaFeratta in Kythira

ViaFerrata is the ideal mix of hiking, canyoning and climbing. With the right infrastructure and in a safe environment, it makes amazing landscapes in gorges and steep slopes accessible to a wide range of people. You do not need technical knowledge, a moderate physical condition suffices, simple but special equipment (only helmet and belt with relaxation strap), and certainly a lot of enthusiasm for action in nature.

The first “trail” was completed in February 2020 in Kakia Lagada, from Paliochora to Limni beach. Thus, Kythira became the first small island in Greece to have this type of mountaineering trail. ViaFerrata of Kakia Lagada is harmoniously integrated in the network of trails of Kythera KytheraTrails, since it connects the circular route M31 (Potamos – Paliochora – Potamos) with the route M36 (Diakofti – Agia Pelagia which is under construction).

Useful Information

The Kythira Foundation for Culture and Development started the first actions of the new program “Kythera Gorges” in 2019, utilizing the natural potential of the island and embracing the efforts of people with a common vision.
