Kythera State Airport is called "Alexandros Aristotelous Onassis". The first landing of a passenger aircraft took place on December 20, 1971. The airport operated with its new runway with a total length of 1480 meters in 1988 while its new building facilities have been operating since 2003. Today the airport hosts flights from Athens (Olympic Air and Sky Express), the Netherlands and the Czech Republic as well as many private jets.
