Karvounades
Central village of the island with significant commercial traffic. Karvounades is one of the oldest villages of Kythira. It seems to have been inhabited for 700 years. The name Karvounades probably comes from a Byzantine surname or the nickname Karvounas. In its central square dominates the church of Agios Georgios.
In the area there are restaurants and a traditional bakery.


In Karvounades are also the settlements of Keramoto and Stathianika with special architecture and Ionian color.
