Camping
In the southern part of Kythera, just two kilometers from the capital, Chora, and about 500 meters from the center of the coastal settlement of Kapsali in a pine grove, is the municipal campsite “Agios Ioannis”. Perhaps one of the most natural, picturesque, most family campsites that one encounters on a Greek island. Its distance from the main port of the island located in Diakofti is 31 km, while from the airport 23 km.
The area where the campsite extends is 12 acres and is completely covered by tall pines creating a beautiful grove. The campsite has small narrow streets within its space, as well as many numbered places for placing individual or family tents. It also has an outdoor area with wooden seats and tables for dining or other activities, e.g. board games, reading etc. In many places there are facilities (taps) for drinking water, as well as sockets for electricity use.
In addition to the places for tents, the space has the capacity to accept a limited number of motorcycles, not more than 10-15, a smaller number of cars (about 4-5) and one to two trailers. Of course outside the campsite there is parking for many vehicles (two-wheelers or cars).
