Paleopolis
Paleopolis is near Avlaimonas. Homeric Scandia was here, part of which is believed to have been submerged in the sea after earthquakes. Some of the most important archeological finds of Kythira have been found here.
On the hill above Avlaimonas dominates the Church of Agios Georgios in the mountain, where Professor Sakellarakis discovered a very important Minoan summit sanctuary.
