Museum of Icons, (I.M. Myrtidia)
In the Holy Pilgrimage of Panagia Myrtidiotissa there is a small but excellent Museum of Icons, which houses important icons from various churches of Kythera. These Holy icons date from the 15th to the 19th century.
The Icons were collected from various Churches of the island in the 1950s by the Bishop of Kythira, Meletios Galanopoulos.
Since then, many high priests of Kythira have tried to create this museum, which was finally created and inaugurated in 2016 after being fully financed by the Kythirian expatriate from Australia Georgios Stathis.
Access to the museum is via a small staircase to the left of the main entrance of the Monastery.
